Retained Competent Health and Safety Advisor Service

Under Regulation 7 of the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 all employers are required to appoint one or more competent persons to provide them with access to competent health and safety advice and to assist them in discharging their statutory health & safety duties.

Failing to have access to Competent Health and Safety Advice and support is actually an office under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, as the regulations require ALL organisations to have access to competent health and safety advice.  Clients will therefore often ask new contractors who provides you with your Competent Health and Safety Advice, as part of their pre-qualification process.

For larger companies this is usually addressed through the use of their own internal Health and Safety Managers and Safety Departments, however for small and medium sized companies it is not practical or cost effective for them to employ their own internal Safety Advisors.

Therefore the most cost effective way for small and medium sized companies to comply with the requirements of Regulation 7 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, is to retain the services of a competent health and safety consultant such as Your Safety Advisor Ltd.

Retaining Your Safety Advisor Ltd as your competent safety advisors can be done for a fraction of the cost of employing your own internal safety advisor, plus you can also tap into our collective knowledge and experience.  We are also able to share best practice knowledge with you that may be gained whilst working with other contractors that Your Safety Advisor Ltd also represents.

Our Health and Safety Retainer Service provides you with access to dedicated, named Chartered Safety Advisor, ensuring that you have a personal service and single point of contact for all of your safety concerns.  This is a level of service which large and more expensive call centre based organisations are not able to provide.  With our Health and Safety Retainer service you will always know who you are dealing with and won’t be starting your conversation again from scratch each time you call us.  Customer Service is important to us and at Your Safety Advisor Ltd we aim to make your experience as straightforward as possible.

The cost of our Annual Health and Safety Advisor Retainer Service typically includes support for the following health and safety issues:

  • Ongoing telephone and email support for health and safety issues
  • Annual review of your Health and Safety Policy
  • Help with the reporting of accidents to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
  • Use of our company name to help demonstrate to client/customers that you have access to competent Health and Safety advice and support
  • Advice on all your health and safety problems
  • Guidance on training provision
  • Updates on relevant health and safety legislation
  • Guidance on how to complete health and safety documentation

To help you prove to clients that you have such arrangements in place, all companies that sign up to our Retained Health and Safety Advisor Service will be provided with a Membership Certificate and CV for their named Safety Advisor.

Having access to competent Health and Safety Advice can help actually help you to reduce your costs, just think about how long you may have spent in the past trying to cobble together a risk assessment or responses to a health and safety questionnaire, only to have it thrown back at you.  Our services are all competitively priced and we strongly believe that the quality and level of service offered by Your Safety Advisor Ltd is second to none.

Furthermore at Your Safety Advisor Ltd, we specialise solely in the Construction and Building industries, we don’t dabble in other sectors, we deal with what we know and we know and understand the issues facing the building and construction industries.

Our Principal Safety Advisor Oliver Whitefield, is also a Chartered Civil Engineer, Chartered Environmentalist and Chartered Safety Practitioner, before entering the Safety Profession on a full time basis, he spent many years working in the construction industry on site and in the design office in his role as an engineer.  Today, Oliver uses his skills and knowledge to help builders, contractors and tradesmen in all sectors of the construction industry to manage their health and safety responsibilities.  A particular area of expertise for the team at Your Safety Advisor Ltd is helping contractors to gain access to tender lists by completing Health and Safety Questionnaires and Competence Assessments, so if your struggling with a health and safety questionnaire or need to gain CHAS or another SSIP Accreditation, you know that Your Safety Advisor Ltd and our retained Health and Safety Advisor Service is here to help!
